Litbuy for jewelry: small items, large differences

Jewelry is cheap to ship and expensive to get wrong. Litbuy's link format parses a pasted source URL on arrival, which is convenient — and the reason to check the parsed result before you pay.

Litbuy — litbuy.com/product/weidian/<item id>?linkSearch=true — the extra parameter tells the page to resolve the pasted link
The link-search parameter means a pasted source URL is parsed on arrival — check the parsed result against the listing before you pay, because a mis-parsed link is the most common cause of a wrong variant.

A Litbuy product link carries an extra parameter that tells the page to resolve the source URL you pasted. That is fast, and it moves one decision away from you: whatever the parser decides is what gets ordered.

So treat the parsed result as a draft. Read the item title, the variant options and the domestic delivery charge on the page that came back, and compare them against the listing you were looking at. A mis-parsed link is the most common cause of a wrong variant, and it takes about ten seconds to catch.

Screenshot the listing before you paste the link. It is the only copy you can compare the parsed result against.

What to look at on jewelry, in order

Start with the clasp. A lobster clasp with a proper spring and a soldered jump ring survives daily wear; a folded wire clasp on a thin chain does not. Ask for the clasp closed and open, close up.

Then plating: colour consistency across the whole chain, not just the pendant, tells you whether the finish is even. Finally the setting — prongs should sit flush and symmetrical, and stones should not rattle when the piece is moved. Ask for a short video with movement if you can.

  • Clasp close-up, closed and open
  • Chain links along the whole length, not only near the pendant
  • Prong or bezel setting at high magnification
  • Inner diameter in millimetres for rings and bangles

Declaration matters more here than anywhere

Jewelry is the category most likely to attract customs attention per gram, and it is also the one where an inaccurate declaration does the most damage: cover is normally capped at the declared value, so undervaluing a piece is the same as insuring it for less than it cost.

Photograph everything you receive before removing any tags. Jewelry disputes are the ones where a photograph taken in the first five minutes decides the outcome.

Ring and bangle sizes are not standardised between markets. Ask for the inner diameter in millimetres and compare it with a piece you already wear.
