UIDBUY for watches: the two numbers that decide everything

Watches are the highest value per kilo in this catalogue, which makes them the category where a proper inspection pays off most — and where a badly packed parcel costs the most.

UIDBUY — uidbuy.com/product/3/<item id> — the source marketplace is indicated by a numeric channel code in the path
A numeric channel code sits in the path, so check that the code still matches the marketplace you actually want before paying.

A UIDBUY product path contains a numeric channel code alongside the item id, which is how the platform knows which marketplace to buy from. That code is worth a second look before you pay: it is the one part of the link you can verify yourself, and a wrong marketplace is a purchase that cannot be completed.

Everything else about the order — variant, quantity, whether you want the box — is set on the order form, exactly as on any other platform.

If the item page does not resolve, do not order. A dead link is the single most common reason an order sits unresolved for a week.

Lug-to-lug is the number nobody lists

Case diameter is the headline figure and it is the least useful one, because a 41 mm case with long lugs wears noticeably larger than a 41 mm case with short ones. Ask for the lug-to-lug measurement photographed straight on with a ruler in frame, then compare it against a watch you already wear comfortably.

Second, thickness — it decides whether the watch slides under a shirt cuff. Ask for a side profile with a coin or a ruler beside the case. Both requests take one message and remove the two most common disappointments in this category.

  • Lug-to-lug, straight on, ruler visible
  • Case thickness in profile against a reference object
  • Dial at 30–45°: index alignment and date window symmetry
  • Caseback and crown: engraving depth and thread finish
  • Bracelet end links: how tightly they meet the lugs

Packing a watch so the case survives

Insist on a box inside a box. On a metal bracelet, ask for the bracelet to be separated from the case so the links cannot rub the case sides in transit — that scuffing is the most common damage on this category and it is entirely avoidable.

Declare the value accurately. An underdeclared watch is usually uninsured at exactly the moment you would need the cover, and the saving on duty is small next to the loss.

Ask for these before the parcel is submitted. Nothing about a watch can be improved once it is inside an international shipment.
